Eviction drive along Bharalu conducted in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal has ordered the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the district administration to conduct a massive eviction drive along the Bharalu river in the city on January 20.

From Zoo Road (RG Baruah road) to the Rajgarh area will be cleared from any kind of encroachment. Besides, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Water Resource Department, GMC and the Lok Nirman department were asked to conduct drainage cleaning in over 150 locations in the city. "An eviction drive against illegal encroachment was also ordered at some 39 locations along the Bahini River in the city too," said an official communiqué.
